Minutes

  1. General information
    • Faculty and PhD positions
      - New head of Studies: Stine Gotved
    • Information from management, boards and councils
      - Summer courses postponed to summer 2020
      - New vice chancellor: Martin Zachariasen, Dean from SDU, focus on gender balance etc.
      - Lisbeth: News from PhD study board: 1) PhD-students going on research stays abroad cannot apply for an tuition fee from PhD school anymore. They must find alternative funding. 2) The PhD-board is looking into the possibility of increasing accommodation rates for PhD students on long-term stays abroad. The board awaits clarification as to whether or not the rates are fixed or if ITU can adjust them.
      - Dimse budget: Lone: We have used a lot of money on the dimes-budget on travelling. It shows that we are publishing a lot. Many have applied for additional dimse. Lone has asked Management to increase the budget.
Paolo: Maybe someone could transfer the dimes they do not use to others?
Lone: It could be a possibility. We still have budget left on the DD lecture series. Maybe we can use this money as well. The same goes for the qualification money each research group have.
    • Other information
      - New union rep: Gitte Stald- Christina Neumayer is stepping down from the work environment representative. Please consider if you could be interested in taking over the position.
ITU has decided to have three work environment representatives instead of only one. You have to be at associate or professor level.
Both union rep. and work environment rep. partake in meetings with management regarding e.g. new buildings. Therefore, if you are interested in working on that level, please consider taking over from Christina.

      - Culture Night Friday 12 October
      - Research Sharing Market 11 OctoberPostcards are also relevant for BSc students. Encourage all your students to come and visit til market.
      - Innovation Fund Denmark is visiting ITU 29 November:13:45-14:00: IFD introduction in 2A14-16 14:00-15:00: Three parallel presentations in 2A14-16 (Grand Solutions), 3A52 (Inno-programs) and 4A58 (Industrial PhD and Postdoc)- Date for vision workshop will be Friday 14 December 9-13 (including lunch). DD Research Thing will prepare the agenda and organisation. Proposals for the vision workshop are welcome.-
  2. Good news and accomplishments
Paolo: Industrial PhDs have experienced a high acceptance rate.
    • New research projects / grants
    • Other stuff to celebrate

  3. New anti-bullying policy at ITU (Christina Neumayer)
The policy is an outcome of the work place assessment (APV).
In addition to the policy: the numbers/result in the APV were alarming, we had to do something about the problem. If you do observe or experience something, please feel free to come to Gitte or Christina if you do not feel comfortable going to your personal manager. You can also contact HR. APV shows that the majority of people do not tell anybody about this – this is a major issue.

Anna: Who has the powers to make a complaint?
Christina: Anyone. You do not need to come to us, but we recommend it. If you experience e.g. stress etc. we can contact professional help. If students experience bullying or sexual harassment, the students should contact head of studies or their teacher. If you experience anything in this regard in relation to your students, you should contact Head of Studies. The sexual harassment policy covers both students, VIP and TAP.
Martin: If students observe or experience anything in this regard, the whole process is described in the study guide.

  4. Supervision situation for Spring 2019. We are short of supervision resources. Proposals for a number of potential postdocs are welcome.
We are short of 60 master students’ supervisors and 20 bachelor students’ supervisors. We are not allowed to use part time lectures as supervisors. Lone intends to employ a number of postdoc who can teach/supervise in spring 19 and do research in fall 19.

Time schedule: postdocs should start ASAP January the latest. Lone asks faculty to look in their network to see if they know anyone who could be interesting candidates, and please send their CV to Lone.

Are there any specific technology area or technical competences we need?
HoSPs cannot accentuate any specific area or competences. It is complex since the students have not decided on master/bachelor project topics yet, and we have to hire the people now. We especially need people in tech, and we should look at our specializations.
Lisbeth: Since Stine is now Head of Studies, we need people in our area as well.
