Minutes

  1. General information
    • Faculty and PhD positions
    • Information from management, boards and councils
    • 'Dimensionering' Games: every programme is supposed to grow according to management so it can be hard to convince them to keep a programme that isn't growing.
    • Decrease in external research spending in 2018 (the university) - Mads is concerned as he will have to explain this to the board later in November. But all in all, DD looks pretty good.
    • Other information
      • New research group: Design, Innovation og DigitaliseringsLab (DID-LAB ), Morten: cross-departmental group working in three teams; digitalization of the public sector, organizations, the group of people who can't keep up with the development.
      • Teaching quality group, Aske: we will discuss it at the next meeting. Aske will check up on deadlines and the discussion will be moved to a lunch meeting if next dept. meeting is too late. See document Please ask Aske if you have questions.
      • MUS conversations by Lone, Espen, Laura, Morten, Jörn and Martin
      • Date for vision work day: potentially on December 11.
      • Expression of Interest for submitting applications: further process. Sebastian: the date for deadline is a bit too early - Lone will mention it to Henrik.

  2. Good news and accomplishments
    • New research projects / grants

      • Darpa grant (Sebastian) life long learning machines
      • Morten published a book
  3. How to communicate your research to industry (Peter Ibsen, 12:45)

Aalborg, Aarhus, and DTU have Business Units as well.
The idea is that both sides (industry and university) gives feedback to each other - it is not a way for industry to use researchers as free/cheap consultants.
It could be beneficial if Peter could join the research groups to get input on how to categorize the research at ITU.

Please contact Peter if you want to set up a meeting (peib@itu.dk)

4. New course catalogue (Ninna Gandrup, 13:00)
Find it on the same platform as LearnIT
You will hear more about this.

5. ITU Data Management Policy (Minna Isomursu, 13:10)
We will move this to a lunch meeting.
